Lone Star has partnered with Alairo to address patient falls
Patient falls are on the rise, regardless of the Hospital's attempts to solve the problem.
Hospital falls are impactful. The average fall costs a hospital $14,000. Worse yet, Medicaid won't reimburse the hospital for any treatment, room charges, or medications.
... then, there's potential lawsuits
Time to market is important. Hospitals are looking for solutions right now.
After meeting with several vendors, Alairo chose Ocuvera
Ocuvera has over 30 systems are in use across the country, and has a high standard for quality and customer satisfaction
The core design philosophy:
The system uses AI for rapid detection of signature bed exit movements.
But it was trained by an extensive process involving annotating 300,000 hours of patient video, capturing 10,000 bed exits.
So, the system embodies human judgement, but executes at the speed of a computer.
Main Components of the System - the Sensor
Sensor

The sensor contains cameras to determine position and depth. Infrared captures images in darkness. It weighs about 3 pounds and is easy to move between rooms.
All patient video is blurred for privacy.
Wall Dock

The wall dock provides power and communicates the room number.
Sensors can be moved from room to room, and the dock loads the new room number into the sensor.
Main Components of the System

Monitoring Station
Up to 24 rooms can be simultaneously monitored without scrolling. Any alerts are highlighted immediately, where the nurse can call into the room with two-way audio.

AFP Mobile App
Immediatly upon receipt of a bed exit alert, the nurse can see an image of the patient, and call back into the room.
Alairo AFP is good for your customer
Nurses get a lot of value out of this system.
Predictive mode is used most often, as it gives the nurse the most time to intercept an unassisted bed exit. Bed Exit mode is less sensitive and only alerts when the patient is getting out of bed.
"Stirring mode" alerts the nurse when the patient is waking up so they don't have to disturb the patient's rest.
There is also a "video only" mode, to manage patients that need to be watched, without the nurse having to sit in the room. Patients often can't rest when someone is sitting in their room.
What does the sale look like?
The rep is supported by the PS team and the Alairo team, and if necessary, the Ocuvera team is at the ready.
Because the sensors are portable, the hospital usually elects to buy wall docks for every room, and purchase about half as many sensors.
The sensors are billed to the hospital at a monthly charge per sensor per month (list is $1,500/sensor/mo.)
The sale is a recurring revenue model. There is the sale and install of the wall docks in most rooms.
Hospitals can try a few units to see the simplicity of operations and the value
Marketing materials are ready, as is a demo video. Live technology demonstrations are also a possibility.
The system demos well.
